THE CHURCH COMPOUND

The land which had
been given by King Chulalongkorn in 1904 is on the
corner of The main entrance to
the compound is on To alleviate the
problem of flooding, walls of waterproof concrete were built around the
compound in 2001, with entry ramps 30 cm above the 50-year flood level. |

The Li Hall (church
hall) was dedicated in November 2001. There are meeting rooms and offices for
the English-speaking and Thai-speaking congregations on upper floors at the
rear. Before the Li Hall had
been built, there was a tiled area with a thatched roof for use by the
congregations after services. |

To the south of the Li

The Vicarage, on the
upper floor, was built in 1969. There are meeting rooms on the ground floor.
The Kay Madar Memorial Chapel was dedicated by the
Bishop of Singapore in 1976. It is for use by Christians of all
denominations. |
The Garden of
Remembrance in memory of Leslie and Winifred Lewis was dedicated at the same
time as the Kay Madar Memorial Chapel. It was
improved in the late 1980s by a new path given by Mary Vongsuly
and her family in memory of her father, Benjamin Pearce. |
The old vicarage
(“parsonage”), to the east of the church, was built at the same time as the church.
In 1927 a downstairs study was built for the Chaplain. The Rainbowland Child Development Centre opened on the ground floor of the old
vicarage in 1998. There is a playground on its south side. |
