THE TRUE TRANSLATION

 

   The piece of ground below the monastery or sacred place 'Wat Yan Nawarene Khock Khuae' belonged to the Siamese Government and rest from a part at Southern direction thereof which has been leased to and occupied by the Borneo Co. Ltd., and connected with that part at North, and below the dockyard which is in North thereof now as, required by Community of foreigners who are of Protestant Christian faith, to be given them from us and our Government for being a base or ground of their religious exercise or service and for erecting a being as a Chapel for prayer and worship according to their religious rite. They desired to have full quadrant in every direction measurement of every one side is 27 Siamese fathoms equally, for safety in their religious exercise. Let the officer of surveying therefore go and mark the extent of the aforesaid required part of ground according therefore said measurement and deliver it to the Committee who will convey business to erect a chapel and govern that piece of ground for being a medium of or middle ground for all Protestant Christians at present days and future we beg deliver the said piece of ground giving up to all Protestant Christians now and in future for erection of Chapel and make any border or limiting wall or fence according to what proper for such religious purpose.

   If in future any necessity however may be occurred to Siamese governments to have that piece of ground for any important purpose, they shall give other piece of ground in exchange and shall supply the fund for removement of building, etc., and shall give proper assistance to Protestant Christians.

   This royal command or mandate given hereby on Friday the fourth night of the waning moon in the intercalary month after 8th month in the year of the cock, the third decade of the Local Era one thousand two hundred and twenty-three being the 11th year or 3,726th days of the present reign, corresponding to the solar date of 26th July 1861.
