Outreach Commission

"Love your neighbour as yourself" - Mark, chapter 12 verse 31

Through their Outreach Commission, the English congregations allocate 10% of the offering to support charitable ministries, especially those listed on the left. Donations can also be made direct to most ministries.

Every Tuesday morning at 9.15am, a bus leaves Christ Church, taking members of the congregation and other volunteers to the Pakked Orphanage in the northern part of the city. We spend the morning there with some of the children, many of whom have been abandoned on account of their disabilities. There is often little verbal communication, but love can be shown without the use of words. Please contact John Cooper for further information, telephone (Thailand) 02-234-3634, ministries@christchurchbangkok.org.

Other ministries also offer the opportunity for voluntary service – please scroll down or click on a name on the left for further information.

Child with disabilityThis is specifically a Christian project, seeking to modify existing attitudes towards the disabled. They seek to raise awareness so that other Christians can share in the work. They have Thai Christian staff working in:

Rainbow House (the Christian Outreach Rehabilitation Centre). There are several resident children. The aim is to return them to birth families or, if not possible, to foster or adoptive homes. There are also day care children from Pakkred. The aim is to prepare them for school.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE:

Volunteers are needed to assist staff in preparing guided play for individual children, many of whom are pre-verbal, so language is not a major problem (see Outreach Commission).
